Work Processes

Our Focus

The Work Processes Team is considering how to improve training
with available resources and how to set-up a structure for project planning.

Key Findings

Hesitation to Invest in New Initiatives When Follow-Through is Uncertain

  • Lack of consistency in process for suggesting for improvements and securing appropriate approvals was identified as a barrier
  • Respondents expressed a fear of being “shot down” or having ideas dismissed
  • Consensus and buy-in on a good idea does not always translate to provision of resources; recommendation to solicit, document and communicate rationale for why an idea might not move forward

Uncertainty as to What Resources Already Exist

    • Desire for better communication across offices as to what the strengths and/or resources exist across units and individuals
    • Requires identification of a platform that is easy to find and use
    • Keeping the resources “fresh” and up to date may be a challenge

Investment in Training Identified as an Opportunity

  • Team members and respondents expressed interest in developing training programs within unit
  • Strong desire to exchange best practices outside of departments / silos
  • Peer learning was identified as possible model as it offers new training opportunities and team building
  • Training and learning programs should be structured so they are self-sustaining and distribute administrative tasks
  • Learning platforms should be explored to identify a best fit for the need: in person vs. website vs. other platforms
